Borlänge mentioned in a folder published by the Government Offices.

 

The Swedish Government has nominated a special group for marketing Swedish Environment Technology to China, "Secretariat of Swedish-Chinese environment technology collaboration". This group has just published a folder named “ A step towards China” which is adresed to Swedish environment technology companies.

 

In the folder it is stated that the collaboration between Chinese and Swedish cities and regions is valued very high in China. Swedish companies should take care of these contacts in a better way and use them for doing business with China. As an example of a good collaboration is Borlänge and Wuhans collaboration mentioned and also Gothenburg-Shanghai, Malmö-Tangshan. Dalarnas collaboration with the province Hubei, in which Wuhan is the residence city is also mentioned.

Wuhan and Borlänge has been sister cities since year 2007 but the collaboration started already year 2000. In the beginning was the collaboration focused on waste management and wastewater treatment issues.

 

Today are Wuhan and Borlänge collaborating within several different areas such as business and trade, culture, youth, education, social questions and so on. The projects are financed by Sida and most of them ar so called municipal partnership projects. These projects are administrated by ICLD (International Centre for Local Democracy).
