The Borlänge library is honored with an own song

Two persons standing outside Borlänge library, the building is black and whíteBoomtown-students have carried out a project where they made music and wrote songs to a place or person. Petra Mases dedicated the song "You can go there” to the Borlänge library.

It's about vitality and magic libraries where everyone can feel affinity on their own terms.

Here is her statement:

Always loved libraries

"Ever since I was little, I loved the library and all the silence and the magic in the books. That everyone had to be really quiet and careful, almost as a desire to not anger the books, because then you wouldn’t know what might happen! Now that I've grown older, I see it more as a shelter for what once was.

Sometimes it feels like everything can be sold for money today, even our souls. This kind of profit mentality does not exist at a library. You can stay as long as you want and even borrow an umbrella if you want. That is for me true humanity and love for the next. No requirements on how you look or how much you earn. We trust each other here.

Everyone fit in

In Borlänge library, I saw how everyone got a seat to read poetry, geography, music, fiction, reality, read about everything. Everyone got the same access, unlike almost all other places in society, where the wallet always comes first. Somehow it feels as if the library is the last human of us which never will die, that cannot die.

My text was then beginning to form around the idea of libraries, that everyone has free access to all learning and E-learning in the world. And when there is no strength to get inspired when you feel completely wrong, when the world does not seem to cope caring for other people, or the written word. So you may flee there. There is vitality still. There may be sense of belonging at your own terms.

In the library you can find the art and those who has been called mad may be geniuses here.

So it became a melody of gratitude that I have given to Borlänge library. "

You can listen to the song through the webbpage of the library or through the youtube link to the right.
