The Youth Unit is one of five units that belong to the Community Services Unit.
Its task is arrange preventative youth activities, promote youth centre activities for the functionally-impaired, job opportunities for young people and create possibilities for young people to exert more influence.
The Youth Unit comprises:
Youth centres
Our youth centres are designed to provide children and young people with meaningful recreational activities and a good working communication with adults. There are nine municipal youth centres, one of which is designed for the mentally-disabled.
Cozmoz
Cozmoz is a centre for young people. Young unemployed people between 18 - 24 can complete their work experience schemes here.
At Cozmoz young people arrange their own activities such as films, concerts, café, discos, etc.
The Borlänge youth council is based here and it also takes care of Borlänge’s youth office.
Framtidspiloterna is a collaboration project between ABF och Cozmoz. It holds its meetings in the building. The project’s goal is to strengthen young people’s influence and to capitalise on the energy and commitment of young people.
Rockhuset
Next door to Cozmoz you will find Rockhuset, which houses eleven rehearsal rooms and one recording studio. Two of the rehearsal rooms are equipped with instruments and are intended for beginners.
Fältgruppen
In Borlänge there are ten in-the-field youth workers. Their main duties are to conduct preventative work with children and young people, to discover and prevent criminal tendencies, substance abuse, bullying and other negative behaviour.
Night watch
The Youth Unit organises nightwatch patrols in Borlänge.
Associations that conduct youth activities are offered the chance to go on nightwatch patrol, and in return, they receive a grant for their youth activities.
