The Immigration Unit belongs to the Labour Market and Adult Education Board (NAV) and is included in the Social Services Unit. The Immigration Unit has a combined responsibility for integration issues in the municipality.
Borlänge Municipality has an agreement with the Swedish Integration Board about accepting refugees. As of 2005 the agreement specifies a quota of 30 people per year. The Immigration Unit is responsible for the receiving and introduction of new arrivals. The aim of this introduction is to commence measures which will lead to self-support and full participation in the community. The refugee services are financed by government funding.
