This can be achieved by economic development going hand in hand with community welfare and the conservation of the environment and natural resources.
 
Community planning is traditionally associated with the physical and financial value of land, buildings, railways and power lines. But communities are also fashioned by the upholding of democratic, community and cultural values.
 
The process of sustainable community planning should be based on an overall vision, be cross-disciplinary in nature and should focus on mankind’s needs and interaction with out surrounding environment.  The development of democracy, influence and the incorporation of experiences from grass roots level should be integrated with a systematic philosophy and an overall view of strategic planning to ensure sustainability.
 
It is this dynamic reality in which the unit works towards sustainable community growth.
