The Environmental Affairs Office is an authority that ensures that environmental protection and health laws are followed. Its task is to provide companies and general public with instructions and advice about environmental and preventative health matters. The office performs its supervisory role on behalf of the Environmental Affairs Board in areas including animal protection, public health protection, environmental protection and food hygiene. Inspections, sample testing, measurements and investigations are included in the supervisory work.

The board’s politicians are responsible for the Environmental Affairs Office’s operations.  Its task is to endeavour to ensure that Borlänge Municipality has a sound environment, good public health and a community planning that prevents damage to the environment and protects people’s health.
